Keeping up with the Brunners
Another day another dollar as the saying goes. Nice ride home from the station tonight apart from the howling, swirling wind and the RAIN. It is rather amazing just how wet one can get in less than 20 minutes. My waterproof jacket did well apart from the tiny bit of a rip in the sleeve which actually brings me to a bit of a story.
We thought we were driving on one particular lane when suddenly the front wheels of our Discovery slid in a strange fashion straight towards the edge of what was as good as a cliff as far as I am concerned. I stopped the car before the back wheels came over it and after a little investigation we figured we had missed a turn somewhere along the way.
I was helped by a good friend in the car behind us reverse out of that predicament. The fact the poor bloke was standing down a cliff on clay trying to hold 2 tons of Brummie metal on the track and succeeded I reckon already deserves a medal but read on, it gets much better.
The Yellow Disco was now leading the slow reversing act. It felt so good on the way up but it is amazing how slippery wet clay on a big hill can feel! We got to a point where the track tilted down the will with nothing there to keep you on it. Luckily the Yellow Disco is fitted with proper mud tyres which made this hairy but not unbearable. Roll theBrunners disco with the slightly more road going All Terrains.
It did not take long to realise that on its own, the only place it was going was the bottom of the 300ft grassy hill. All I could think was thank goodness I decided to stick with these tyres but get all the suspension and protection sorted! Anyway we decided the best way to get this sorted was to tie our Disco to the Yellow disco and make sure that when I started sliding I had a limited amount of sliding to do.
The best thing is that there was hardly a scratch on my car, but I did tear my Jacket

Evening all.
Some of you reading this will already know that there is some news that I am positively fizzing to make public knowledge but at present I can't quite do it. Until it is all wrapped up and I know for sure I can't tell you that the Brunners might be out of Tiptree for a little while again. (There is a big clue in the first few posts ever made on this blog)
Anyway, nothing much to update. I was out for a few beers last night after work and the bike ride home at midnight after a few lagers was quite the experience. I managed to stay on and seem to remember seeing how loudly I could scream while riding the bike. Why do we do it. After getting to sleep at about 2 and having to wake up again at 4:30 I felt pretty special for most of the day.
I am working on creating an audio file that I will try to update once a day but probably more likely once a week with a few thoughts. It will only ever be a max of a minute long and I fully plan to make it a Podcast for all you folks with iPods out there.

In August we spent a week in Wales and drove some pretty unforgettable lanes. It was good to get out on some terrain that is not more or less flat as it is around our way in Essex. Also driving on rock instead of clay makes you think about what you are doing a lot more as mistakes will not always just mean being stuck. One of the most memorable lanes on the holiday was below the Claerwen dam. It started with fording a river and cut its way along the river. At times you could have sworn the river was higher than the road and that is probably why you were driving in bumper deep water.
